FINANCE

BuysideHub is a platform designed to give finance professionals trustworthy data on compensation, firm culture, interviews, and job opportunities.

This was a true two-person effort. The founder brought deep industry knowledge and vision, while I handled planning, design, and development. Together, we shaped a product that focused on reliability and clarity, giving finance professionals a tool they would actually use and trust.

We knew from the start that finance professionals don’t want flashy colors or quirky logos. They want clarity, seriousness, and trust. So we built a straightforward design system, grounded in ShadcnUI to ensure speed, scalability, and easy maintenance.

To validate decisions, we ran user surveys through the founder’s network. These revealed that features competitors leaned on, like discussion forums or extensive culture reports, weren’t priorities. Instead, users wanted three clear answers:

  • Am I being paid fairly?

  • Where can I find good opportunities?

  • How do I prepare for interviews?

Based on this, we:

  • Trimmed down the complex firms page into a leaner version

  • Focused heavily on compensation analytics, breaking it down by industry and city

  • Built searchable compensation tables that were easy to scan

  • Designed a simple data submission flow, with clear incentives, to encourage contribution

In just three months we went from idea to launch, and the results showed that a simple, focused approach really paid off. Within the first month BuysideHub made over €10K in revenue, attracted 4,000 new users, and collected 1,000 compensation submissions, reaching a 25% conversion rate. Most importantly, users trusted the brand and the process, contributing valuable data to make finance more fair and transparent.

Key outcomes:

  • Shaped a trusted brand for finance professionals

  • Delivered an MVP in 3 months balancing speed and reliability

  • Achieved $10K revenue in first month, with 25% submission conversion

  • Focused on real user needs instead of competitor bloat features
